Manage stress with restorative yoga

Restorative Yoga is the use of props to support the body in the position of ease and comfort to facilitate health and relaxation. Thanks to the props such as blankets, bolsters, blocks and belts, the Restorative Yoga poses can be held during 15 to 25 min in silence. These poses allow to completely let go and reap all its profound benefits.

I discovered Restorative Yoga in Bali (Indonesia) when I was there to rest during a very stressful period in my life. In response to my grief, I decided to practice regularly restorative poses. It was practicing theses poses, I believe, that helped me through this stressful period. They allowed me to recover from stress, anxiety and fatigue. In fact, it was my direct experience of the profound effects of restorative poses that led me to teach Restorative Yoga.

I studied Restorative Yoga with Judith Hanson Lasater in London. The yoga training of Judith includes study with B.K.S. Iyengar in India and the United States. B.K.S Iyengar is considered one of the greatest masters of yoga in the world.

I am convinced that Restorative Yoga and coaching are united through a common goal : to help us to live better. Restorative Yoga works on the body and Coaching on the mind. The combination of Restorative Yoga and Coaching create, stimulate, and maintain an optimum state of physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health.

In today western society, chronic stress does not allow us to live in harmony with our emotions. This can cause symptoms such as insomnia, chronic pain, low self-esteem, anxiousness or depression.

Restorative Yoga and relaxation may relieve chronic stress and reduce the effects of stress-related diseases, providing an environment for self-repair. The principle is to activate the Parasympathetic Nervous System (PNS), which is responsible for balancing life support functions within the body and bringing their response system back to equilibrium. It works to stimulate the baroreceptors, deactivates the sympathetic nervous system, therefore quiets the brain and slows the heart rate. This powerful practice provides conditions for the natural healing process to occur, and brings the body (physical, mental and emotional) to a harmonious balance.

Above all, Restorative Yoga and breathing techniques eliminate anxiousness by promoting groundedness and centeredness. When anxiousness disappears self confidence reappears. And when you are self-confident, determine your life is much more easier!

So you understand now why I consider that Restorative Yoga is the ideal companion of Coaching !

I propose to teach you this practice respecting three fundamental principles:

  • Observation to make sure that you are in the most ajsuted and comfortable position;
  • Physical and emotional support;
  • Empathy.

with 3 different types of session:
